London Northwestern Railway

Worth checking...

London Northwestern Railway Delay Repay starts once your LNR journey arrives at least 15 minutes late, including when a cancelled train is what knocks the journey off schedule.

The catch...

The LNR claim form still
drags

London Northwestern Railway sends you through its Delay Repay portal. That means pulling together the route, the delayed train, proof of the ticket, and payment details before the 28-day clock runs out. The manual version usually goes like this:

  1. Start with the arrival time at your destination. You need an LNR delay of 15 minutes or more, and a cancellation can count if it pushed the completed journey late enough.
  2. Send it no later than 28 days after the delay, while the journey proof is still easy to track down.
  3. Use the official London Northwestern Railway Delay Repay portal. You can begin without signing in, though an account helps regular travellers save ticket, payment, and personal details.
  4. Enter the journey date, scheduled departure, start and end stations, train details, delay length, ticket information, proof image, and payment details where LNR asks for them.
  5. Make sure the delayed service was run by London Northwestern Railway. If another train company caused the delay, the claim needs to go to that operator instead.
  6. If your ticket was an eligible Advance Single bought directly through an LNR or WMR account, watch for a One-click Delay Repay email the day after travel. Otherwise, use the manual form.
  7. If the disruption meant you stayed home instead, the unused-ticket route is normally a retailer refund rather than LNR Delay Repay.

LNR claim checks

Easy details to skip

Evidence

LNR asks for a photo of the actual ticket, not just a receipt. If you used split tickets, combine photos of every ticket into one upload. Smartcard users should have the card number and ticket details ready.

Trainline or another retailer

Bought through Trainline, work travel, or another retailer? If an LNR service caused the qualifying delay, use LNR for Delay Repay. If a different operator caused it, claim from that operator.

Season tickets

Season-ticket claims use LNR's daily travel cost, not the full pass price. LNR calculates that daily value as: 7-day Season: divide by 5, 4-week Season: divide by 20, Monthly Season: divide by 20, Annual Season: divide by 232.

Automatic Delay Repay

LNR offers One-click Delay Repay, not a fully automatic payout. It sends a next-day email prompt for qualifying Advance Single tickets bought direct through an LNR or WMR account, then submits when you click the link.

Rejections and appeals

Common LNR claim problems include delays under 15 minutes, late claims, disruption already advertised before travel, emergency timetable rules, the wrong operator, duplicate claims, or inconsistent ticket details.

Payment choices

LNR payment options include credit or debit card, PayPal, BACS bank transfer, National Rail vouchers, and charity donation. Check the live form for the current charity label.

In plain English...

The delay may be worth money

A 15-minute late arrival on London Northwestern Railway can be enough for UK train delay compensation. That includes West Coast Main Line trips through London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Liverpool Lime Street, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Coventry, Watford Junction, Crewe, and Rugby when LNR caused the delay.

How LNR works it out

LNR uses delay bands, ticket type, and season-ticket daily travel cost to decide the amount. The longer the arrival delay, the larger the percentage.

LNR-specific rules:

  • You can claim when a London Northwestern Railway journey reaches the destination 15 minutes or more late.
  • Cancelled trains can count when the cancellation causes a late arrival after you travel by another service.
  • Claims must be submitted within 28 days of the delayed journey.
  • Daily-ticket compensation is capped at 100% of the daily cost of the ticket.
  • If another operator caused the delay, the claim should go to that train company instead.
  • Flexi Season users can claim when an activated travel day is delayed by 15 minutes or more.

FAQs

LNR Delay Repay FAQs

How late does my LNR train need to be?

London Northwestern Railway Delay Repay starts at 15 minutes. If your LNR journey arrives 15 minutes or more late, you may be able to claim. Journeys under 15 minutes are not eligible.

Can I claim LNR Delay Repay for a cancelled train?

Yes, if the cancellation meant you arrived late enough on your journey. LNR includes cancelled services in its claim form, and National Rail says compensation may apply when you travel and arrive late because of a cancelled or delayed train.

How long do I have to claim LNR Delay Repay?

London Northwestern Railway says Delay Repay claims must be made within 28 days of the delay, so it is worth submitting the claim while the journey details and ticket proof are still easy to find.

Can Railed claim LNR Delay Repay for me?

Yes. Railed can prepare and submit an eligible London Northwestern Railway Delay Repay claim for you. If LNR pays compensation, we pass it on after our 10% service fee. If the claim is rejected, there is no fee.

What do I need for an LNR Delay Repay claim?

You need journey details and proof of the ticket. LNR may ask for a ticket photo, ticket reference, Smartcard, Oyster or Swift details, ticket price, class, photocard ID, origin, destination, and the scheduled train time. Paper tickets may need to be defaced before proof is uploaded.

Does London Northwestern Railway have Automatic Delay Repay?

LNR has One-click Delay Repay for some journeys, but it is limited. It only applies to qualifying Advance Single tickets bought directly through an LNR or WMR account on the app or website. Other tickets usually need a manual claim.
